Local Trump Supporters Respond to Trump’s Comments
Bradley County, Tenn. (WDEF) – Trump supporters here in East Tennessee say they’re not happy with Trump’s comments, but they stand behind their presidential candidate.
Adam Lewis with the Bradley County Republican Party says Trump’s comments were disgusting, but he’s glad the nominee apologized.
Even though GOP leaders are calling for Trump to step down, Lewis says he thinks it’s too late for that.
“At this point, I think his best option is to talk about the issues that Americans care about. Not to diminish his comments or minimize what he said, but what he did say was over 10 years ago. An I think the decision before voters now are what issues are facing the country, that are going to have the greatest impact moving forward, and which of the candidates do they think can do the best job in handling those issues,” says Lewis.
Despite the controversies, Lewis tells News 12 Trump is still fit to be president.
He says voters will have to decide what’s more important quote, “things Trump has said, or what Hillary has done.”
