Local young writers get novels published
HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) – Writing a novel is something most people only think about doing.
But for 10 local young adults they not only thought about it, but also accomplished it.
On Thursday, at the Barnes and Noble at Hamilton Place middle and high school students got a copy of their published novel during a ceremony.
Over the summer the kids went to A Novel Idea writing camp.
That’s where they learned how to piece together a novel.
They then finished writing a book within four months.
“It’s a way for kids to own their voice and to find their voice for the first time, because I tell them that their voice and their words is the most powerful tool in their toolbox, for life, and if they can learn how to create information if they want to share with others in a creative way then they can do it in any way,” A Novel Idea Chief of Wordy Operations Tama McCoy said.
Barnes and Noble at Hamilton Place will be selling copies of the novels.
