Longest Yard Sale
JR Hunter, Dunlap said, "I’m selling a little bit of cookware. A little bit of glassware. A few collectables." Glassware, clothes, paintings, tires and just about everything in between could be found in tents and tables along highway 127. Hunter said, "Hopefully something for anybody." JR Hunter has been setting up shop in the same spot for 8 years now. Hunter said, "There’s still people buying." Mary Newman, Spencer said, "The people are great. They want to work with you on the price. Its a lot of fun." Mary Newman has been coming to the yard sale for the last 5 years and this time she was on a mission. Newman said, "I’m actually getting married in October, so I’m looking for wedding items for a country wedding. And I just started out the day and spent about all my money."
Most folks we talked too knew what they were looking for while they searched up and down the streets. Maxine Lewis, Spencer said, "A step stool where I can reach my stuff in my top cabinet." Joyce Ruppel, Fort Wayne said, "I’m looking for carnival glass and a coal miners lunch bucket." Ruppel enjoys yard sales so much she traveled more than 7 hours for the sales. Ruppel said, "We came down for the highway 127. I was here about 7 years ago and had to leave early, so we just took this opportunity to come down and spend the 4 days shopping."
The shopping will continue all weekend long.
