Tennessee Board of Education members seek to formalize a teacher disciplinary policy in order to prevent inconsistent punishments from being handed down.
This comes after recent reports showed flaws in the teacher background check system.
The board’s executive staff hopes to present a policy draft for first reading in April.
Beginning today, Alabama will hold its fifth annual Severe Weather Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday
Shoppers will have the opportunity to purchase certain severe-weather preparedness supplies free of state sales or use tax.
The Sales Tax Holiday ends at midnight on Sunday, February 28th.
Casino gambling could come to Georgia under measures approved by a House committee.
The bill and accompanying constitutional amendment would allow up to four casinos around the state, with two in the Atlanta metro area.
At least 90 percent of revenue from casinos would go toward education, including the HOPE scholarship.
The program is currently funded by the state Lottery but has struggled to keep pace with demand.
