Lookouts Adam Brett Walker Compared to Baseball’s Best Homerun Power Hitters

Chattanooga-(WDEF) If the Lookouts Adam Brett Walker got in a homerun hitting contest with the Avengers, he would win it. He’s that strong. On Monday, Walker was named the Southern League player of the month for June after belting eleven homeruns last month, which led all of minor league baseball. He currently leads the Southern League in homeruns with 23.

When it comes to sheer homerun power, Adam Brett Walker ranks among the best in baseball, according to his hitting coach, Chad Allen.
"In my career, I have probably seen four or five big leaguers that have as much power as he does. It’s special. The kid hits the ball as far as (Mark) McGwire, as far as (Jose) Canseco, as far as (Barry) Bonds."
Said Walker,"You hear those names. Those guys definitely have a lot of power. I just try to come out and work every day so I can get better."
At the Southern League All Star homerun derby, Walker had more homers than the rest of the field combined.
Said Allen,"He’s 6’5, 240, and he has just tremendous leverage with his legs. His hands are huge."
Said Walker,"I try to put the barrel on the ball. Just try to make sure I get good pitches to hit. Put the barrel on it. Usually when that happens, good stuff happens."
And like most power hitters, Walker is working on reducing his strikeouts.
Said Walker,"Sometimes failure can help you. If I go down, I’m just trying to get them with my next at-bat. Try to have a quality at-bat."
Said Allen,"He takes his strikeouts in stride. He never complains. He doesn’t worry about his strikeouts. He just goes out there and plays the same game every day."
Walker is certainly a strong hitter, but Allen says his personality is even stronger.
"The biggest thing about him is he’s the nicest kid you’ll ever meet."
