Lookouts Dump the M-Braves 12-5 in Front of Sold-Out Crowd

The Chattanooga Lookouts scored seven runs in the first inning in their 12-5 win over the Mississippi Braves in front of a sellout crowd of 6,309. The sellout crowd marks back-to-back sellouts for Chattanooga and their fourth of the year.

Blake Dunn kicked things off for Chattanooga in the first inning, reaching on an error and stealing a base. After Dunn reached, the team recorded three straight singles to drive in two runs. A wild pitch and a walk loaded the bases for Michael Trautwein who drove in two more with another single. Jose Torres proceeded to belt the team’s only extra-base hit of the day, a two-run double to make it 6-0. The Lookout’s final run of the inning scored on a sacrifice fly.

An inning later Torres struck again, this time driving in two runs on a single to center field with the bases loaded. Outfielder Jacob Hurtubise then plated Trautwein on another Lookouts single. Chattanooga recorded 18 hits with 17 of them being singles. The team also capitalized on four Mississippi errors.

Lookouts starting pitcher Sam Benschoter picked up his third win of the year, only allowing three runs in 5.2 innings.

Tomorrow, starting pitcher Julian Aguiar will make his Lookouts debut at 7:15 p.m. In 14 starts with the Dayton Dragons, the righty was 4-1 with 1 .92 ERA and 77 strikeouts. .
