Lookouts give up the W in the 9th again

Chattanooga (WDEF)- The Chattanooga Lookouts suffered a heartbreaking defeat to the Rocket City Trash Pandas for the second night in a row. Despite leading going into the ninth inning, the Lookouts fell short 7-6 after giving up four runs in the final frame.

Building on a strong start, the Lookouts responded well after their previous loss. They plated three runs in the bottom of the first and starting pitcher Chase Petty, along with Donovan Benoit, shut down the Trash Pandas for five hitless innings.

Rocket City managed to tie the game in the sixth, but Chattanooga answered back immediately. Francisco Urbaez tripled to lead off the inning, scoring on a double by Ruben Ibarra. Later, Nick Northcut drove in a run with a double and eventually scored himself on a throwing error.

Lookouts reliever Jacob Heatherly looked sharp, tossing 2.2 hitless innings with five strikeouts to preserve a 6-3 lead heading into the ninth. Unfortunately, the wheels came off for Chattanooga in the final frame. The Trash Pandas loaded the bases with a hit-by-pitch, a double, and a walk, setting the stage for a comeback. Tucker Flint plated one run with a single, and Sam Brown delivered the knockout blow with a bases-clearing hit to give Rocket City a dramatic 7-6 victory.
