Lookouts Ninth Inning Rally Falls Short

The Chattanooga Lookouts (75-60) scored two runs in the ninth inning, but the team left the bases loaded to fall 4-3 to the Jackson Generals (52-83).

Greg Peavey was on the mound for Chattanooga and pitched well, only allowing two earned runs in seven innings of work. When the righty left the game after the seventh the team was only down one run, but the Generals scored two runs in the eighth to take a 4-1 lead.

In the final frame Chattanooga’s offense showed some signs of life. With one out, DJ Hicks walked and Stephen Wickens singled to put two runners on and the bases became loaded with another walk. After a pitching change, one run scored on a Stuart Turner force out. Two straight walks by new pitcher Paul Fry brought home a run and made the score 4-3. The next batter, Jorge Polanco, narrowly missed a game winning hit when he lined out to short to end the game.
