Lookouts Scott Schebler Becoming One of the Best in the Southern League

Chattanooga-(WDEF) Last season, Scott Schebler won the Branch Rickey award as the top player in the Dodgers minor league organization, which earned him an invite to Dodgers Stadium.
"I think they do that too. They bring a lot of the guys they think have potential to go there. They bring them up, and then they are like wow, this is where I want to be. It makes them hungrier when they send them back down."
Said Lookouts manager Razor Shines,"One, he had a great year last year. And two, the Los Angeles Dodgers have their eyes on Scott Schebler."
Despite the Branch Rickey award, Schebler admits making the jump to Double-A this season was a bit of a struggle early on.
"It was more thinking about hey, these guys are good. These guys are too good.  You almost over think it to the point that wow, should I be here kind of a deal. You put it on that pedestal like wow, these guys are so much better. But if you just go out there and play, you realize hey, I belong here."
Schebler now belongs among the best of the Southern League.
The Lookouts outfielder is second in homers with 15, and he leads the league with 8 triples.
Said Shines,"You’ve got a guy that can run like Scott Schebler. And you have to have foot speed to hit triples. And he has 15 homeruns. That’s the combination they look for on the major league level."
Schebler is more a line drive hitter.
So he wasn’t too surprised when he didn’t hit a homer in the Southern League All Star homerun derby at Engel Stadium.
"It would have been fun obviously to get one out, but I wasn’t surprised or disappointed that I didn’t get one out because I’ve seen myself hit for a couple of years. BP is not really my strong suit I guess."
Schebler answered with a homerun in the All-Star game.
He says it was cool to be an All-Star, but winning is even cooler.
"I want to win, so I want to make the playoffs. I’ve made the playoffs almost every year I have been in the Dodgers organization, so that’s first and foremost."
