Lookouts Stuart Turner Delivers Walk Off Winning Homerun Against Jackson
Lookouts catcher Stuart Turner crushed a two-run walk-off home-run to give Chattanooga (15-12) the 4-2 win against the Jackson Generals (11-14) in front of a crowd of 5,011 at AT&T Field.
Before Turner’s heroics, starting pitcher Jose Berrios was the star of the show. The right-hander only gave up two runs on three hits in a season-high eight innings. Berrios also struck out eight batters to catapult himself into the league lead in strikeouts with 48.
The Lookouts gave their young starter a two-run lead early in the contest with a run in the first inning and a run in the second. The run in the first came on a Michael Gonzales RBI double. The hit drove in Jorge Polanco who reached on a single. The second run came an inning later when Byron Buxton knocked in Turner. Buxton has now recorded a RBI in seven straight games and since the Month of May has driven in 10 runs.
Down 2-0, the Generals were able to tie the game up on a Jack Reinheimer SAC fly and a Dario Pizzano RBI triple in the sixth.
The game remained tied up at two until Turner’s dinger in the bottom of the ninth. The walk-off win was the Lookouts’ third of the season and third this month.
Reliever Zach Jones (2-0, 0.90) picked up his second win after tossing a scoreless ninth inning and Generals pitcher Jordan Shipers (0-1, 5.65) took the loss.
