Mainx24 set for December 6th
Carla Pritchard, Chattanooga Presents Owner said, "Mainx24 has become this really huge, organic and wonderful celebration of the southside along Main street specifically, and it’s 24 hour period of all kinds of activities." W.L. Goodman, Office Coordinators Inc. said, "There’s something for absolutely everybody. We’ve got children’s events, adult events that don’t start until 10 o’clock at night. We’ve got all kinds of food, all the galleries are open and they are doing various events of their own." Goodman has been in the same location for 42 years and says Mainx24 has grown exponentially from the start. Goodman said, "In the beginning there were half a dozen people involved plus the fire engine, the parade I’m talking about now, just a very small parade, I’ve never thought we’d see it as it is today."
One of the biggest highlights of the event is the parade that will take place at 10:30 Saturday morning. Main Street will shut down for the entire 24 hour period. People can come out and socialize and take part in more than 90 scheduled events. Pritchard said, "It really is a festival unlike any other in Chattanooga because every business has a unique offering that they are producing themselves within their space, and it’s up to them to decide what they want to do." Goodman said, "What we have now here is something I’ve never envisioned, which is a combined community and business and houses and individuals, that’s just remarkable."
Mainx24 kicks off Saturday, December 6th at 7am and runs until 7am Sunday morning. For a complete list of scheduled events visit www.mainx24.com.
