Man accidentally shoots himself while at work

CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee(WDEF) – Police are investigating a shooting that happened inside a Chattanooga office building.

It happened shortly after noon inside the Standard Tool and Die building located in the 4000 block of South Access Road.

investigators on scene told WDEF the man works inside the building and accidentally shot himself in the chest while attempting to take his gun apart.

According to authorities, the man was alert as he was being transported to the hospital.

There is no word on his condition.

Investigators have confirmed the shooting to be an accident.
