Man arrested after allegedly stealing girlfriend’s car, leading deputies on pursuit
HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — A man was arrested Monday night after allegedly stealing his girlfriend’s vehicle and leading deputies on a pursuit.
On the evening of July 28, 2025, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputies responded to the 8000 block of Ellie Plaza Place for reports of an armed carjacking.
HCSO said the victim reported her boyfriend, Dominique Boyd, had threatened her with a gun during an argument and forcibly took her vehicle.
While on the phone with 911, Boyd returned to the scene, attempted to hit her with the vehicle, assaulted her, and destroyed her phone.
Deputies located Boyd and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.
Boyd fled the scene, and deputies initiated a pursuit.
A Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) trooper deployed spike strips and HCSO deputies executed a PIT maneuver near the entrance of the Soddy Daisy Walmart.
Boyd discarded the firearm during the pursuit, but it was later recovered.
He was taken into custody and was found to be in possession of Cocaine, Xanax, and Marijuana.
HCSO said additional contraband was discovered on Boyd during a jail search.
Boyd is currently being charged with the following:
- Evading Arrest
- Attempted Murder
- Aggravated Robbery
- Carjacking
- Reckless Endangerment
- Drug Possession
- Introducing Contraband into a Penal Facility
- Driving Under the Influence
