Man arrested after leading authorities on a pursuit in stolen EPB vehicle

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) —  A male suspect has been arrested after leading authorities on a pursuit in a stolen EPB vehicle.

At 12:34 p.m., March 12, 2025, Chattanooga Police responded to the 1000 block of Central Avenue for reports of a vehicle theft.

An officer with the Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) located and stopped the vehicle in the 3100 block of Dodds Avenue.

According to CPD, during the traffic stop the driver initially stopped but then began to drive away.

The driver also attempted to hit a CPD officer with the stolen vehicle during the stop.

After failing to stop the vehicle, officers initiated a pursuit.

CPD and personnel with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) were able end the pursuit in the 300 block of Highway 153 southbound.

The suspect, later identified as 27-year-old Brett Ellis, was arrested and transported to the Hamilton County Jail and Detention Center.

Ellis is being charged with the following:

  • Aggravated Assault on Police
  • Reckless Endangerment
  • Reckless Driving
  • Auto Theft
  • Felony Evading Arrest
