Man arrested for false Whitfield County informant list

WHITFIELD COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) – Investigators say one Whitfield County man posted a false list of confidential informant names on Facebook.

Detectives identified Ermon “Bud” Mulkey III as the person responsible for making the list. He was arrested on outstanding warrants.

At the time of his arrest, the Whitfield County Sheriff says he was in possession of Methamphetamine.

Mulkey will be charged with Reckless Conduct, Forgery, Computer Crimes, and Identity Fraud.

Whitfield County Sheriff Scott Chitwood said “You can certainly put people’s lives in jeopardy… some individuals that were legitimate people. may or may not been informants and there were some made up names, but nobody really knew who was who necessarily, but it was brought to out attention and we took immediate action to it.”

Mulkey remains in jail without bond until tomorrow where he will have a bond hearing.
