Man arrested following brief struggle with officers
SCOTTSBORO — A 48-year-old man has been arrested following a brief struggle with officers.
According to the Scottsboro Police Department (SPD), at approximately 7:44 p.m., officers were patrolling the area of E. Willow Street and they observed a vehicle occupied by an individual known to have outstanding warrants through the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
They say officers made contact with the passenger, who was identified as Calvin Emanuel Stewart, and advised him of the warrants.
During the encounter, Stewart attempted to conceal and discard suspected narcotics while disobeying officers’ commands.
They say after a brief struggle, officers were able to take Stewart into custody.
After Stewart was placed in handcuffs, officers located methamphetamine and synthetic marijuana (spice).
Stewart was charged with the following:
Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine)
Possession of a Controlled Substance (Spice)
Resisting Arrest
Stewart was transported to the Scottsboro City Jail and later transferred to the Jackson County Jail without incident.
