Man arrested in Dunlap after fleeing on foot, multiple drugs found

DUNLAP, Tenn. — A man has been arrested after officials tried to stop an erratic driving vehicle on Walnut Street in Dunlap on May 3, 2026.

According to the Dunlap Police Department, a vehicle stop was initiated on Old York Highway.

The driver of the vehicle, Dakota Johnston, fled on foot but was captured by officers and taken into custody.

Johnston was found to have active warrants for Domestic Assault and Aggravated Assault Involving a Handgun.

They say a search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of a Glock 19 handgun, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and additional narcotics-related items.

The total weight of the recovered substances was approximately 56.2 grams.

Johnston is charged with:

• Possession of a handgun during the commission of a felony
• Felonious possession of Schedule VI
• Unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia
• Evading arrest
• Resisting stop, frisk, halt, arrest, or search
