Man charged following driver’s license checkpoint
SCOTTSBORO — A man has been charged on multiple charges following a driver’s license checkpoint stop on March 25, 2026.
At around 10:30 p.m., officers with the Scottsboro Police Department (SPD) conducted a driver’s license checkpoint in the 2300 Block of S. Broad Street.
During the checkpoint, a vehicle was stopped that was being driven by Devin Chadwick Proctor, 48, according to the SPD.
They say it was discovered that Proctor was operating the vehicle with a suspended license. A K-9 was also deployed and alerted on the vehicle, leading to a probable cause search, where officers located a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and pills.
While being processed at the jail, Proctor was found to be in possession of additional contraband, resulting in an additional charge.
Proctor was charged with the following:
• Driving While License Suspended• Possession of a Controlled Substance• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia• Possession of Marijuana• Promoting Prison Contraband (2nd Degree)
Proctor was transported to the Scottsboro City Jail, where he was booked without incident.
He was then transferred to the Jackson County Jail for the felony charges.
