Man deceased after Cleveland officer involved shooting

CLEVELAND, Tenn. — A man is deceased following an officer involved shooting at Brooks Edge Apartments on April 10, 2026 just after midnight.

Cleveland Police Department (CPD) officers responded to a call regarding an intoxicated individual who reportedly would not stop following two people around the complex, using profane and inappropriate language.

The caller also reported the individual was armed with a firearm on his hip.

Responding officers located the individual and made contact, attempting to speak with the subject about the incident, according to CPD.

During the encounter, the individual drew a firearm and pointed it at the responding units.

They say there was a brief exchange of gunfire with the officers.

The individual was struck during this exchange and was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

No officers were harmed.

This is an ongoing investigation.
