Man facing capital murder charge in strangulation case of 11 yr old girl
FORT PAYNE, Ala. (WDEF) – A man is behind bars, charged in the strangulation case of an 11 year old girl in Alabama.
The sheriff says this sweet angel was gone too soon.
Sheriff Nick Welden says, “the road to justice is my main concern” and their “main focus is justice for a sweet angel who gained her wings.”
The Dekalb County Sheriff says this case has left his department heartbroken and determined to find the answers that will help bring closure for the community.
Amberly Barnett’s body was found behind the suspect’s home on County Road 822 Saturday after she was reported missing on Friday.
I saw investigators with shovels combing over the scene Monday afternoon, taking pictures and gathering evidence.
Officials says that 33 year old Christopher Wayne Madison is charged with her death.
The sheriff says it was a true team effort that led them to this point in the investigation.
The sheriff says they need the communities support as they work to close this case.
“Please pray for the family. And as a community, as a county, as the state, as the entire government, we need to pray.”
The sheriff did not release any details about the relationship between the suspect and the victim.
