Man flips car after committing burglary, fleeing from police

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — A man committed a burglary in Soddy-Daisy and crashed after fleeing from police, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) said.

The sheriff’s office said deputies responded to the burglary call shortly before 9 p.m. on Monday, October 9.

HCSO identified the suspect, who broke into the home in the 9800 block of Hamby Road, as James Grant Jones.

Deputies said Jones forced his way into the home and then fled in a black Mercedes.

Shortly after, deputies found that car on Sequoyah Road and attempted to stop it. However, the suspect fled again.

Authorities later spotted the car on Harrison Lane and attempted to stop it again. This time, Jones fled but lost control of the car.

According to the sheriff’s office, Jones’ car went into a ditch, hit a tree and landed upside down in a parking lot.

EMS took Jones to a hospital for treatment of any injuries, and they later released him.

However, HCSO said they are charging Jones with aggravated assault, felony evading, reckless endangerment and resisting arrest.
