Man killed in motel fire in suburban Atlanta
SUWANEE, Ga. (AP) – Fire officials say a man has been killed in a motel fire in suburban Atlanta.
Gwinnett County Fire Deputy Chief Charles Wells says the man was found dead inside a motel room after the fire occurred around 2:14 a.m. Sunday at the InTown Suites. Wells says fire investigators are unsure what started the fire in the first floor unit.
Wells says the sprinkler system in the motel had put the fire out by the time firefighters arrived. The victim, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Wells says the cause of the fire appears accidental.
No other injuries were reported.
There was no damage found outside the room.
