Man pleads guilty to rape and kidnap of an Uber Driver in January

Boyfriend heard some of the attack on the phone

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – The man accused of raping a female Uber driver in January has pleaded guilty.

Zachery Johnson pleaded to aggravated rape and kidnapping.

He got a 20 year sentence on the rape and 12 years for the kidnapping.

Police say Johnson had been drinking at the Chili’s on Gunbarrel Road when an employee called a ride for him.

But the driver said soon after leaving the establishment, he tried to take over the vehicle.

He then attacked her.

The woman’s boyfriend called her during the attack and heard some of it.

But police were not able to track them down for 90 minutes.

Officers eventually found them three miles from the restaurant in a neighborhood cul-de-sac.
