Man sentenced to 30 years for Memorial Day assault in LaFayette
LAFAYETTE, Ga. (WDEF) — A man has been sentenced after after pleading guilty to multiple charges stemming from a violent incident on Memorial Day 2023.
Christopher Blake Stansell pleaded guilty to four counts of Aggravated Assault, Home Invasion 1st Degree, Burglary 1st Degree, and two counts of Cruelty to Children 1st Degree.
The incident occurred during a neighborhood gathering, when Stansell became involved in a verbal argument with a guest at a nearby home.
After a failed attempt to fight the guest, Stansell allegedly threatened another family, retrieved a 9mm handgun, and made violent threats.
According to the Lookout Mountain District Attorney’s Office, Stansell later attempted to break into the family’s home, but after running out of ammunition and being confronted by police, he was tased and arrested.
Stansell was sentenced to 30 years in prison, with the first 10 years to be served in confinement.
