Court documents reveal that 36-year-old Jerimiah Adam Nix originally pled not guilty for the murder of Candus Bowes. On February 15, he changed that plea to guilty.

Officials said the Jackson County man must now pay a $60,000 fine. He also has to pay over $5,000 in restitution and $10,000 for a Crime Victim Compensation Assessment.

In 2019, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said deputies found Candus Bowes dead from a gunshot wound. They found her in a home on Poplar Street.

A grand jury indicted Nix in 2019.

His trial then began on February 13, and the sentencing hearing took place on March 16.
