Man sentenced to life for heroin trafficking in Cherokee County, AL
CHEROKEE COUNTY, Al. (WDEF) — A man has been sentenced to life in prison for heroin trafficking in Cherokee County, Alabama.
Kyle Erwin Skinner was convicted on April 17, 2025, during a pre-trial hearing before Judge Andrew Hairston in the Circuit Court of Cherokee County.
The case began on June 29, 2022, when Cedar Bluff Police stopped Skinner for speeding on a motorcycle.
Officers noted the smell of alcohol and, after obtaining consent to search his backpack, discovered empty alcohol containers and drug paraphernalia.
Skinner was arrested and taken to the Cherokee County Detention Center, where officials later found a trafficking amount of heroin hidden on him during processing.
According to District Attorney Summer Summerford, because of Skinner’s multiple prior felony convictions in Georgia, he received a life sentence.
