Man wanted out of Louisiana found with stolen car on Highway 153

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — A Hamilton County deputy found a stolen car from Louisiana on Highway 153 on Tuesday. The driver of the stolen car was wanted out of Louisiana as well, authorities stated.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office said at around 1 p.m., the patrol vehicle’s automatic license plate reader alerted the deputy to a stolen vehicle.

They said the vehicle was located on the right shoulder of the roadway.

A man was sleeping in the driver’s seat of the car, according to the deputy.

The HCSO identified that man as 34-year-old Brook McKenzie Simpson. The deputy arrested him and charged him with theft of property and possession of drug paraphernalia.

They also said Simpson had numerous felony warrants out of Louisiana.

Deputies said they also found other items in the car they suspect are stolen.
