Man who struck East Ridge officer pleads guilty to more charges

The man charged with running over an East Ridge Police Officer has pleaded guilty to more charges in Hamilton County.

Ta’Bious Wheat pleaded guilty to attempted second degree murder among other during a police chase on July 1, 2024 that seriously injured East Ridge Police Officer Alan Resendiz.

That police chase started in Marion County and ended in Whitfield County.

Officer Resendiz had to spend months in rehab, but has since returned to the line of duty.

Wheat previously pleaded guilty to charges in Georgia, where he also got 10 years in prison.

This means Wheat now will serve 20 years total, 10 in each state.
