Marble, NC swamped by Wednesday night storm

MARBLE, North Carolina (WDEF) – The eastern edge of Cherokee County in North Carolina was hammered by a storm last night.

The Sheriff says the area got torrential rains for several hours around Marble, which is northeast of Murphy.

They had at least three homes moved by the flooding.

The Peachtree Cove Campground and several homes were evacuated.

Mudslides were a major problem.

The sheriff got reports of around 35 slides of varying degrees.

Also 50 trees came down knocking out power. Duke Energy reports more than 150 homes were still out on Thursday.
