Marion Co Hopes to Make State Title Run
Jasper, TN-(WDEF-TV)
Marion County was ranked number one in Class 2-A last season, but they didn’t finish the year as the top-ranked team.
Warriors return a lot of talent this season, which fuels their dream of a championship run.
Brian Armstrong has Marion County in the 30-in-30 spotlight.
Marion County football went 10-0 in the regular season last year for the first time since 1995.
Said head coach Tim Starkey:”We enjoyed the season we had. It was wonderful, but again we’ve got work to do, and that’s what we’re preparing to do.”
Said linebacker Braydon Coffelt:”We’ve always been the class that’s hopefully going to get that state championship.”
Marion Co made it to the second round of the post-season, but the team obviously wants to make a deeper run this year. The focus of this season is getting off to a quick start.
Said Starkey:”I think it’s all about the start. This group has a lot of experience and has played a lot of football.”
Most of the defense is back this year, and no doubt the linebackers will be the dominant force.
Said Coffelt:”Linebacking crew is a bunch of dogs.”
