Marion Co Prepared to be Thrown in the Fire This Fall
Marion County missed out on the playoffs last year for the first time since 2011.
Now the Warriors are more determined than ever to hop back on the post-season train this fall.
Marion County enters the 30-in-30 spotlight.
After going 5-5 last season, Marion Co is ready to blow the top off the 2023 season.
Said running back Brody Leonard:”We’ve got a lot of talent. Our talent this year can take us a long way. We have high expectations going to state.”
Said head coach Tim Starkey:”I think we’ve got more experience on the field. I did an interview the other day. I just really think some of our kids were thrown in the fire. Just weren’t quite ready. I think they are this year. I think everybody will see that as we get this thing kicked off.”
More experience should equal more leadership.
Said Leonard:”Last year we lacked a lot of leadership. So with this senior group, I think we are a lot more mature. We’ll be good this year.”
Staying healthy is big as well. Talented senior running back Alex Condra went down with a knee injury after two games last season, and was lost for the year.
Said Starkey:”It’s always the last man up mentality, but it beat us. We’ve got to move on from that. I know that keeps coming up, but that was last year. We are prepared for this year. We’ve got a lot of kids that’s ready to be in this fire right now and play, so that’s what we’re going to do.”
Like it or not, the Warriors will be thrown into the fire against this season with a new region that will require long bus trips.
Said Starkey:”Just being consistent. You come to these things to see how consistent you can be because consistency is the key of being successful.”
