Marion County woman arrested on financial exploitation charges
MARION COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — A Marion County woman has been arrested and is being charged with financial exploitation and forgery charges.
In July of 2024, detectives with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations (TBI) launched and investigation into a referral from the Adult Protect Services.
According to TBI, referral was in regards to some irregularities in financial records of some residents in a South Pittsburg health care facility.
During the investigation, agents uncovered information spanning from May 2022 to July 2024, revealing that the company’s then business manager, Ashley Pickett, was responsible for financially exploiting four residents at the facility.
The TBI stated that Pickett is no longer employed at the facility.
The Marion County Grand Jury returned an indictment on Pickett February 3, 2025.
This indictment charged Pickett with the following:
- Financial Exploitation of an Elderly/Vulnerable Person $10,000-$60,000 (2 counts)
- Financial Exploitation of an Elderly/Vulnerable Person $2,500-$10,000 (2 counts)
- Forgery
Pickett was arrested Tuesday, February 3, 2025, and taken to the Marion County Jail.
She is being held there on a $75,000 bond.
