Mayor Andy Berke State of The City Address
Thousands filled a room to hear mayor Andy Berke give us an overview of the city we call home.
He announced several new initives including a partnership with EPB giving every family with child on free or reduced lunch will get 100 megs of internet at just 26.99
"That means our low income families will get internet at a faster speed at a fraction of a cost than park avenue millionaires," Berke said.
The Police Department will begin partnering with UTC to help reduce sexual assaults on campus and begin an initiative tackling domestic violence.
The mayor created an entire council to help empower women of Chattanooga headed by Councilwoman Carol Berz and state general abysmally member Joanne Favors.
"I think we have to get involved we cant expect us to be done for us I think we have to take the plunge and that comes with getting ourselves educating on policy and standing up for what we believe in no matter what that is," Berz said.
Berke says you can expect to see these new plans in action throughout the rest of the year.
