Mayor Kelly addresses WalletHub survey ranking Chattanooga poorly

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly recently responded to the viral WalletHub survey that ranked Chattanooga as the second-worst run city in the United States.

Mayor Kelly addressed this topic during his State of the City address. He also recently posted a clip of this specific topic to his Twitter (X) account.

He says WalletHub pegged Chattanooga as having a $2.2 billion budget but insists that is incorrect.

Chattanooga’s budget is actually around $375 million per year, according to the mayor.

“This is not a serious news organization,” Mayor Kelly said. “It’s a company that sells credit ratings.”

Mayor Kelly goes on to claim that WalletHub tries to make controversial content.

He also gives a few other examples of why he believes the survey is not accurate.

In his tweet, the mayor added, “Summary is this: Their ‘report’ is factually incorrect and painted a downright unfair picture of our city. In reality, new people are moving to town because Chattanooga has its mojo back.”
