TAMPA, Fla. (WDEF)- Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly is currently attending a major conference for North American mayors.

He is one of two hundred mayors at the United States Conference of Mayors in Tampa, Florida.

This conference is held twice a year to allow mayors to come together to discuss how to tackle some of their biggest issues.

Mayor Kelly says he’s been to several iterations of this conference, and was part of a presentation.

He says that the knowledge gained from these meetings are invaluable.

“There’s really nothing new under the sun. We all have to deal with affordable housing. I will say a lot of our affordable housing policies were borrowed from other cities, especially the work around additional dwelling units. The work we’ve done to create a revolving loan fund for affordable housing came from work that was done in Montgomery County, Maryland and in Atlanta. It’s all about just stealing each other’s best ideas,” said Mayor Kelly.

The conference lasts through the end of the weekend.
