McMinn County High School Student Charged After Weapon Found in Vehicle

MCMINN COUNTY — A McMinn County High School student has been charged after a weapon was found in an on-campus vehicle.
McMinn County Schools says their administration at McMinn County High School was notified of suspicious activity in an area of the student parking lot earlier today.
School officials initiated searches of several vehicles in coordination with the McMinn County Sheriff’s Department’s K9 Unit.
A weapon was discovered in one of the vehicles and was confiscated by the McMinn County Sheriff’s Department.
The student who was driving the vehicle will be charged in McMinn County Juvenile Court with possession of a weapon on school grounds and will also face appropriate disciplinary action in accordance with district policy, McMinn County Schools says.
They say at no point during this incident was there a threat to students or staff.
