McMinn County man arrested and charged in connection with child exploitation case
ATHENS, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) has indicted Micah Boring of McMinn County on multiple counts of exploitation of a minor.
The TBI’s Internet Crime Against Children (ICAC) Task force received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
The tip was in regards to child sexual abuse material being uploaded by a Discord user.
The user uploading the material was later identified as Boring.
A search warrant was issued and executed at Boring’s residence in Athens with assistance from the Athens Police Department.
During the search, multiple electronic devices were seized, and later were discovered to contain thousands of images of child sexual abuse material.
On September 16, Boring was charged by the McMinn County Grand Jury with the following:
- One count of sexual exploitation of a minor (Over 100 images)
- One count of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor (Over 25 images)
He was arrested and booked into the McMinn County Jail on September 30 with a bond of $500,000.
