Medical professional shares how to care for pets during summer
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — High temperatures are affecting humans and also pets.
A medical professional with Pet IQ addressed how pet owners can keep their furry friends safe in the heat.
“It’s a little different for our pets than us. Things like walking on hot sidewalks and hot streets … We’re wearing shoes so we may not notice. And there is nothing sadder than someone going, ‘I didn’t know. I didn’t know that my puppy was going to get blisters,’” VP of Medical Services, Dr. Sarah Cutler Tew said.
Tew recommends taking your pet on walks earlier in the day or later at night.
Keeping water around to keep your pet cool is very important.
Carrying around snacks also helps with nutrients.
