Meigs County General Sessions Judge Casey Stokes

DECATUR, Tenn. (WDEF)- A Meigs County judge is at the center of a federal lawsuit.

Meigs County General Sessions Judge Casey Stokes is accused of illegally ordering the arrest of a woman inside of the Meigs County Courthouse back in February.

The lawsuit claims Judge Stokes yelled at the plaintiff to, “shut up”, while watching her son be placed in handcuffs, and when the woman questioned why her son was being arrested, he ordered her arrested as well.

She spent the next night in jail.

This is the second lawsuit that is currently pending against Judge Stokes, and he had been previously reprimanded by the Tennessee Board of Judicial Conduct after being accused of insulting someone in his courtroom.

Both cases are still pending.
