Memorial Hospital Awards Health Grants
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – CommonSpirit Memorial Hospital awarded nearly $220,000 this morning to six local nonprofit organizations as part of its community health improvement program.
The funding will support programs aimed at improving access to health care, strengthening mental and behavioral health resources, increasing transportation options, and promoting health education for residents in need.
Among the recipients, the AIM Center will expand its connected care program to support adults with serious mental illness, while Girls, Inc. is launching a preventative health initiative to set girls up for long-term wellness.
The Kidney Foundation will enhance transportation assistance for patients who rely on regular dialysis and other critical care services.
La Paz Chattanooga will address Latino health care needs and food insecurity, and the Medical Foundation of Chattanooga will expand programs addressing social determinants of health and emergency food assistance.
The Bethlehem Center will focus on reducing food insecurity, chronic disease, and barriers to care in under-resourced neighborhoods.
The grants are part of CommonSpirit Health’s national effort, which awarded a total of $15 million to 329 organizations across the country to improve community health and well-being.
Through this program, Memorial Hospital aims to help local nonprofits strengthen services that support the most vulnerable populations in the region, targeting the community’s pressing health needs and disparities.
