Mennonite family injured in buggy crash
POWELL, Alabama (WDEF) – Four family members were injured in a buggy crash on Sand Mountain on Monday.
Police say a car hit a horse drawn carriage driven by a Mennonite family in the Powell community.
The DeKalb County Daily News reports the adults were seriously injured, but the children are in better shape.
The horse was killed in the crash.
The Rainsville Police remind drivers that horse drawn carriages have the same rights of the road as other vehicles.
The chief says that he is trying to put up warning signs on the highway about horse drawn carriages.
You will see signs like that in other Mennonite communities in our region.
