“Mike’s Journey” by American Legion supporter Carylon Smith
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – As Veterans Day is this Monday, November 11th, organizations all over Hamilton County are helping veterans obtain various ways of support whether that be access to medical appointments or a home cooked meal.
With the American Legion being the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organization, many individuals come from all over to provide any assistance they can.
One individual, Carylon Smith, who is very involved with her work at the American Legion, also wrote and released a book of her own titled Mike’s Journey. Mike’s Journey deeply discussed Mike and his journey through his cancer diagnosis and the profound impact it had on their lives.
She hosted a book signing this weekend for not only her readers, but to also spread awareness of this organization’s work.
As the holidays are approaching, the American Legion has the opportunity for veterans and families of veterans to obtain warm meals, gain access to warm clothing, and also acquire gifts and stocking stuffers for children in the area.
Graciously, Carylon Smith will be donating part of every sold book’s proceeds to the American Legion Post 214. This specific food pantry has been able to distribute over 73,000 pounds of food for the community since the beginning of the year.
A free Thanksgiving dinner will be provided for veterans on the 28th.
You can purchase her book Mike’s Journey online and at Barnes and Noble.
