Missing person found deceased in single vehicle crash off GA-136

WALKER COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) —  A missing person was found dead several hours later after their car overturned down a Lookout Mountain embankment.

Troopers from Post 41 LaFayette were called to investigation a single vehicle crash off of GA-136 at Lookout Drive September 22, 2024 at 5:43 p.m.

When troopers arrived to the scene, their investigation revealed a Jeep traveling eastbound had overturned down an embankment.

Georgia Department of Public Safety revealed the Jeep’s driver didn’t maintain his lane while trying to make a left turn.

This caused the Jeep to go off the right side, south bound of GA-136.

The Jeep proceeded to overturn, traveling down a steep embankment, and ultimately stopped after hitting a tree.

Officials declared the driver deceased at the scene.

The report stated a Walker County deputy coroner estimated the individual had been deceased for several hours.

It was later discovered the driver had been missing 24 hours prior to the crash.
