Mississippi State Resumes Underdog Role Against Alabama
Top five showdown between number one Mississippi State and fourth ranked Alabama on Saturday.
The winner will control their own destiny in qualifying for the first ever college football playoff.
Even though Mississippi State is ranked number one, Alabama is favored by a touchdown.
But that doesn’t faze Bulldogs quarterback Dak Prescott.
"We’re back to the team we were to begin the season. The team we were earlier in the season where nobody expected us to win. Didn’t think we could win. We were the underdogs in all of those games. I mean it feels good to be back to that."
Nick Saban might disagree with the betting line. He believes the Bulldogs are beasts, especially on defense.
"They’re big. They’ve got two big inside linebackers. They’re very physical up-front. Very hard to block."
Mississippi State’s offensive backfield is big too with Prescott and running back Josh Robinson.
Said Saban,"Well (Robinson) is physical now. He’s very physical. Hard to tackle. Built low to the ground. Very powerful. Strong. Runs through a lot of tackles. Breaks a lot of tackles. You know Dak Prescott is a big, physical runner. Kind of reminds you of (Tim) Tebow in a lot of ways, but he’s also a very, very good passer.
The Bulldogs will try to end a six game losing streak in their series against the talented Tide.
Said Bulldogs head coach Dan Mullen,"I look at their roster. They probably have more five-star players sitting on the bench that can’t get a rep on their team than we have on our entire roster."
We’ll see plenty of stars in this SEC showdown.
Said Robinson,"That’s the reason we came to play for Mississippi State. Play on a big stage. Play against an SEC opponent, which is the best conference in college football. Point. Blank. Period."
