Mocs Add Beef on Offensive Line With Addition of Signal Mountain Native Harrison Moon

Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) The Chattanooga Mocs averaged only 17 points a game last season. One way to beef up the offense is to add some beef in the trenches.
That’s why UTC was glad to get 6’5, 290-pound offensive lineman Harrison Moon.
The Signal Mountain native transferred from Mississippi State, and he’ll have two years of eligibility.

Giving up SEC football for SoCon football can’t be easy, unless you’re coming home. Said Moon: “I love Starkvillle, but you know Chattanooga’s a big city, so that’s a good change. It’s fun to be back in my hometown. But you know it’s better, I think it’s a better opportunity to get back on the field. I can play in front of my family and get a great education.”  Said head coach Tom Arth: “This opportunity to be in Chattanooga means a lot for him, and I think the biggest thing for him, and talking with him as he was making the transition here was just coach, I just want to be here. I just want to contribute in any way that I can for Chattanooga football. Whatever that role is, I’m going to give you everything I have, and that’s what I love about Harrison.”

Mocs quarterback Nick Tiano played with Moon at Mississippi State, and now he can’t wait to team up with Moon again at UTC. Said Tiano: I think Harrison brings a guy with some experience and with some leadership. He’s a worker. He works his tail off, and I think he brings a leadership presence to that group.” Said Moon: “I was able to learn this offense way quicker than I was Mississippi State’s because coming out of high school you’re kind of young, but now I’ve been in college three years. I kind of know how I do things. Know how I learn and stuff, so I guess it just kind of prepared me most mentally to just what’s coming.”

The Mocs offense ranked near the bottom of the entire FCS nation last year, so to help facilitate improvement, Moon knows he has to become a bad man. Said Moon: “You just gotta have bad intentions. Just want to take your guy from point A to point B, and you know Coach (Nick) Hennessy harps a lot on you gotta finish. You gotta play relentless. You gotta play accountable and physical.”
