Mocs Basketball Coach Matt McCall Says Bill Belichick Puts March Madness in Perspective

Chattanooga-(WDEF) The Chattanooga men’s basketball team has the top seed in the upcoming SoCon tournament, but the Mocs really don’t care about that.
When UTC head coach Matt McCall served as an assistant at Florida, Patriots football coach Bill Belichick spoke to the Gators before March Madness.
‘Mr. Hoodie’ compared the Big Dance to horse racing, and McCall says the message remains relevant for this year’s Chattanooga team.
McCall-“Everyone wants to seed you, talk about where you’re supposed to finish, what you’re supposed to do, and the bottom line is none of that matters. It’s the horse that runs the fastest that’s going to win the race. They don’t know what their odds are, they don’t know what they’re seeded, they don’t care. The horse that runs the fastest is gonna win the race.”
Chattanooga opens tournament play on Saturday at noon in Asheville, North Carolina, against either VMI or Samford.
