Mocs Basketball Team Set For Senior Day

Chattanooga-(WDEF) The Mocs basketball team will say good bye to four seniors on Saturday as UTC plays their final home game of the season.
Every senior wants to go out with a win, but for Chattanooga, a victory would also clinch at least a share of the SoCon title.
Mocs football coach Russ Huesman always says he wants no boo-hooing on Senior day, but Mocs basketball coach Matt McCall may be more sentimental.
McCall-“I’m a little bit different. I think Senior Day is an emotional day every year. I don’t care what team you are on. I think it’s emotional.”
Guard Eric Robertson can’t believe his time has come to be honored on Senior Day.
Robertson-“It will actually be weird for it to be my go-round in that. You usually see the seniors go out, and now it will be weird to be that senior.”
Coach McCall says Senior Day is special too for guys that don’t play as much like guard Alex Bran.
McCall-“We don’t like to use the term walk-on. Doesn’t receive the financial aid that some of these other guys do, as far as getting a scholarship. He just brings an unbelievable attitude, and that’s not easy to do.”
Bran-“Some of the energy I bring in the games and on the bench. I feel like I bring a lot of excitement on the bench. I hope they remember me through those times.”
Bran and Robertson admit they have certain routines around home games.
Bran-“Before the game, I talk and sit with Dr. Potts, who is a chemistry teacher here.”
Robertson-“Depends on if we play early or not, I’ll probably do some homework and just chill out after the game.”
Reporter-“You do homework after a home game?”
Robertson-“Depends if we play early. If we play at five, and I get back to my room around 7:30, then yeah, I’ll do some homework.”
Not surprisingly Robertson posted a 4.0 GPA one semester. But now he and Bran are about to set sail from UTC.
Bran-“I loved it all. I wouldn’t want it any other way. I had a blast.”
The UTC men host Samford at 5pm on Saturday at McKenzie Arena. The UTC women will also be at McKenzie Arena on Saturday hosting ETSU at 2pm.
