Mocs Brace For Battle With Tennessee
Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) Even though the Mocs are big underdogs against Tennessee, they’re ready to accept the challenge.
Said head coach Rusty Wright:”I think this is a physical bunch. I really do. I don’t think they have any issue hitting somebody in the mouth. I don’t think they’ll back down from that.”
The Mocs would love to duplicate what F-C-S member Austin Peay did last year against Tennessee. The Governors were down just 13-6 at halftime before falling 30-13.
Said Wright:”Tennessee didn’t play well. I mean their first drive I think they dropped three balls. Dead in their hands.”
The Mocs might be worried that the only drops they’ll see Saturday are some jaw-droppin’ moments from Vols five-star quarterback Nico Iamaleava.
Said Wright:”His talent level. The sky is the limit for it at the end of the day because he can do everything that they’re trying to ask him to do in that offense.”
Reporter:”When he runs, it looks effortless.”
Said Wright:”I can promise you it looks real effortless. That’s that SEC speed for you when it’s going. Yeah he made it look real effortless against Iowa a couple of times. Big Ten corn-fed boys.”
On defense, Tennessee will send James Pearce after quarterback Chase Artopoeus.
Pearce might be the best defender in the country.
Said quarterback Chase Artopoeus:”Especially when the guy is looking like a top ten overall pick in the NFL Draft. That’s probably a guy you want to keep your eyes on, especially if he’s going to be hitting you. I’ve got a lot of respect for him. Watching him on film. It’s really impressive what he’s able to do.”
Besides Tennessee’s speed and athleticism.
There’s also that Neyland Stadium environment.
Said Wright:”We played Rocky Top Sunday. We play it at team deals. It’s loud.”
Said defensive lineman Marlon Taylor:”I’m tired of Rocky Top. I’m tired of Rocky Top. That’s the only thing I’m not looking forward to is listening to Rocky Top. Other than that, I’m ready. I’m ready to play and go have fun. Rocky Top. I’m tired of hearing it already. I feel like I made the song.”
