Mocs Close Out Regular Season Against “Maybe the Hottest Team in College Football”
Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) The Chattanooga Mocs get a taste of big time college football Saturday.
UTC travels to Tuscaloosa to face Alabama in their regular season finale.
Said head coach Rusty Wright:”They maybe the hottest team in college football right now.”
The Tide is rolling, especially quarterback Jalen Milroe who has ten touchdowns in his last two games.
Wright:”Well they figured out who the quarterback was. I mean Kentucky couldn’t tackle him last Saturday. They figured that part out, and he’s playing with a lot of confidence and playing at a high level, and they’re doing things he can go do well.”
Even though Chattanooga is a big underdog, they’re excited to play the Crimson Tide.
Said defensive back Kameron Brown:”Just getting on the field against an SEC opponent. Leading the country. Best coaches. Best workout staff. Like best overall program in the country. Just playing against them is a great experience.”
Reporter:”So you’ve got some buddies that are on the Alabama team?”
Said offensive lineman Almarion Crim:”Yes sir.”
Reporter:”Like who?”
Said Crim:”Kool-Aid McKinstry. Tim Keenan. All my guys from high school. Yes sir.”
Reporter:”Have you been texting Kool-Aid?”
Said Crim:”Nah. It’s business this week.”
It’ll be a tough business for sure.
Rusty Wright faced Alabama when he was a UTC player in 1994.
And for some reason, Rusty had to play center.
Said Wright:”Right before half I just remember getting picked up off my feet by about that far by some guy that wasn’t even on the depth chart. I’m like oh I’ve got to come back out here in the second half and get this figured out.”
After Bama, Mocs play the waiting game on Sunday.
Wait and see if they make the FCS playoffs.
24 teams go. Mocs are currently ranked 17th in one national poll.
Said Wright:”I don’t think there’s any question that we can go play with one of the top 23 teams in the country. I don’t think there’s any doubt. Is that how it always works out? Not necessarily.”
