Mocs Coach Will Wade Feels Good About His Team Heading Into the SoCon Tournament

   With a two seed in the SoCon tournament, the Mocs are definitely one of the favorites.

Said Wade,"We want to be aggressive. We want to be confident. We should be confident. We are 15-3 in the league. We’re pretty good."

   Coach Wade certainly feels more confident this year as opposed to last year.

"Last year’s team was smoke and mirrors. This year’s team is a really good basketball team. We’re a top 100 RPI team. That’s a good team by any measure. It’s not like we need a lot of crazy things to happen at the tournament. Last year we needed that. This year we don’t. We’ve got a good team."

   UTC rides into Asheville on a six game winning streak, but guard Rico White says that means nothing to the Big Dance Big Picture.

"It’s about winning three or four games in this tournament. Everybody is on a level playing field. You want to get hot now. This is the time that matters. The winning streak was great, but we’ve got a lot more important things to do."

   The Mocs are fully aware that their next loss could end their season.

Said guard Casey Jones,"We don’t think about losing. As long as we play hard, we all believe there isn’t a team that can beat us if we just play as hard as we can."

   To enhance that winning mind set, Coach Wade might be channeling Professor John Keating from ‘The Dead Poets Society.’

Gather ye rose buds while ye may.  Carpe Diem. Seize the day.

Said Wade,"Good things come to those who take it. If you want something you’ve got to go take it. You can’t wait for an opportunity to you. You’ve got to go make your own opportunity."
   The Mocs are scheduled to tip off at 6pm on Saturday.
